Respiring Cloudscape
2007
ripstop nylon, flexible aluminum ducting, industrial blowers, electronics
10 x 8 x 16 feet
A collaboration with Gideon Webster, created for the Trainscape exhibition at the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park in 2007. In the exhibition, model trains traversed a wide range of sculptural landscapes; upon entering ours, blowers were triggered, rapidly inflating the suspended fabric clouds and blowing tones on several wooden train whistles. The clouds then deflate when the train exits. The video here shows the piece installed for testing in the studio.
