My third collaboration with Ali Momeni, this project also involved the participation of artist Matthew Brackett.  The piece is a four-chambered computer-controlled smoke ring generator.  The video below represents documentation of a working prototype.  We later developed the piece into a final form entitled Smoke and Hot Air, in which smoke rings are rhythmically generated in response to spoken text, specifically Google news headlines containing the phrase “attack Iran.” It has been exhibited in Ghent, Belgium at the Almost Cinema Festival 2009, in Gijon, Spain at the Laboral Centro de Arte y Creacion Industrial, and in Jerusalem, Israel as part of the 2012 MusraraMix Festival. Work continues on an updated version.
