Siren

Three video clips of a singer play simultaneously on three custom screens, squares of plywood with inset translucent discs. Through these portholes, one can see only the face of the singer. The clips cycle in and out of phase, forming different combinations of notes: harmonies and disharmonies, solos, duets, and trios. The sung note coincides with the period of stability in each spinning video. There are rare moments when all three voices are singing, all three video images are momentarily stable, and everything aligns for at most one breath's duration. These moments build, dissolve, and reform again in new combinations.
